The FGRA sheet gives his birth, "of Cayuga Co., N.Y." "Anc & Desc of William Curtis" gives his birth, "Auburn", and says he lived at Decatur, Ill, and had eleven children, died about 1878. The copy of the letter from Mary Holt said he lived near Springfield and had eleven children. Marriage found in Marriages of Union Co, Illinois (FHL 963179). IGI has 13 Mar 1856. History of Sangamon Co, Ill., 1881 (FHL 977.356 H2h), contained a biography of Frank M. Sperry of Springfield and said he was born 1857 at Anna, Union Co., Illinois, son of Isaiah Sperry who was born at Hoosac Falls, N.Y. It gave further information about Isaiah, saying that "at the outbreak of the late rebellion, he raised Co. B., Sixth Illinois Cavalry Volunteers, and was commissioned Captain of this company by Governor Yates. At the close of the war he settled on his fruit farm in Union Co., married Maggie L. Phillips and they had twelve children, eleven living at the time. It said he was a Mason and his wife was a member of the Presbyterian Church. "History of Union Co" by Perrin, says he married Margaret Phillips, daughter of Thomas H. Phillips, attorney at law of Anna, Union, Illinois. "Index to Report of Adj. Gen. of Illinois ...", Sm to St (FHL film 1001170 and 978487 to -90) lists Isaiah M., residence, South Pass, 12 Oct 1861, resigned 28 Feb 1863.
