Old Settler Gone. Mrs A. W. Ray Passes Away, Succeeding a Stroke of Apoplexy.
For the second time within the week the Angel of Death has removed from our midst one of Delavan's oldest and most highly respected citizens Mrs. Helen M. Ray. She succumbed yesterday afternoon at two o'clock as the result of a stroke of apoplexy, which she suffered the evening previous at six o'clock.
Despite her advanced age she had up to Tuesday evening been active as one many years her junior, She lived alone and attended to her daily household duties and took care of her garden spot. She had only that afternoon picked a mess of peas from her own planting and while so engaged, it is thought she became over heated and resulted in the stroke. [1] |
