Paradise Post, Thursday, June 27, 2002, pg A-5: "Clay and Annette Peters. Clay Edward Peters, 86, and Annette Stoltz Peters, 84, both of Paradise, died on June 18, 2002.
"Mr. and Mrs. Peters met while attending high school in Santa Cruz. They married there in 1935, and in October 2001, celebrated 66 years together. Mr. Peters worked for Bank of America for 25 years and in the 1950s, was manager of the Paradise branch.
"Subsequently, he worked for the County Bank of Santa Cruz and retired as vice president and secretary. Mr. Peres was active in numerous services clubs and organizations, including Kiwanis and the Salvation Army.
"He served as president of the Paradise Rotary Club, the Paradise Chamber of Commerce, and the California Bankers' Association, Group 3.
"Mrs. Peters was a homemaker. Together they raised three children: Clay E. Peters, Jr. of McLean, Virg., Don M. Peterson of Payson, Ariz., and Julianne Herbert of Yuba City. Both Mr. and Mrs. Peters loved the outdoors and during their lifetimes, enjoyed camping, hiking and backpacking in the Sierras with their children.
"They also traveled extensively and especially enjoyed the South Seas.
"Together in the 1950s, the couple built a log cabin in Mineral entirely without the use of power tools.
"They recently moved to Paradise from Forest Ranch, where they had experienced much enjoyment from their 5-acre home site.
"Survivors include their three children, five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
"Private services were held with inurnment at Durham Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Newton-Bracewell Chico Funeral Home."
