Note that there is another 'Martha Irish, [#92], m. Peleg Brownell' in this data (but the Martha's are shown with different parentage). I don't know if this represents an error or very strange coincidence. | Irish, Martha (I05395)

There is some conflicting (or at least, very confusing) data. W.L. shows two 'Martha Irish's married to two 'Peleg Brownell's. This 'Martha m. to Peleg' (Martha 92) is shown as dau. of Thomas Irish & Phoebe Crandall - while the other 'Martha m. to Peleg' (Martha 7778) is shown as dau. of 'Jesse Irish & Mary Albee'. I need to find and correct the error (if, in fact, there is one). | Irish, Martha (I05431)

Identical information is given for wife of brother, Franklin J. Irish.
From: Linc Haymaker 7-1-2001
The way it is stated in the book Myra was first married to Franklin and then to Elias his brother as her name was Irish when she married Elias. It is odd that the book does not state that the two Myra's are the same person. I have merged her two appearances together. If this is the same person then it appears that she divorced Franklin since Franklin outlived her. | Graves, Myra (I10704)

1. His obituary was published in the 17 Jun 1910 issue of The Cedar
Rapids Republican.
"Eugene Wells was born August 11, 1854, in New York state and died at his home four miles northeast of Marion, June 10, 1910. He came to Iowa in his boyhood and has lived in this state ever since, most of the time having been spent in Linn county. October 27, 1878, he married Lydia A. Irish. To this union were born ten children, nine of whom with the wife
survive him, one having died in infancy. The surviving children are - Mrs. Nellie E. Wright, Central City, Iowa; Mrs. Lena A. Williams, Paralta, Iowa; Joel W. Wells, Gary, S.D.; Plinnie E. Wells, Marion, Iowa; also those still at the parental home--Mason E., Valentine F., Ada M., Carl H., and Ralph Clifford. He leaves also one sister, Mrs. Emma Moors, Roseburg, Ore., eighteen grandchildren and an aged father, Plinnie Wells of Fairfax, Iowa. His mother died in 1888 and was buried at the Simson Chapel cemetary where other relatives [and] interred and where the subject of this sketch was laid to rest. The funeral was held last Sunday afternoon at Simpson Chapel, Rev. O. B. Chassel, the pastor, preaching the sermon, and a large number of neighbors and friends attending the services. Mr. Wells became a member of the Modern Woodmen of America on November 9, 1895, and continued his membership until his death, belonging to Springville Camp No. 334. He had been in poor health for a number of years and his death was not unexpected."
2. Simson Chapel is the original name for the Crab Apple Cemetery.
