Notes:

From: W. L. Irish - Samuel (or Silas) Gates Irish. No tombstone was ever erected at his grave in the Hite Cemetery, Whiting, Iowa.

They were in Dodge County, Minnesota in 1854 and in Bon Homme, South Dakota in 1859. He was in the Indian War in the Dakotas in 1857-1861. He was a judge in Watkins, Minn. On 7-1-1867. He was the first Territorial Treasurer of the Dakotas. His picture is on page 228 in Volume 1 of History of South Dakota, by Doane Robinson, 1930.

His obituary is in the "History of Monona Co., Iowa - 1890. By National Pub. Co.".
