STELLA BERTHA (PUTNAM) IRISH  

  It is my earnest desire to dedicate this book to my dear wife, Stella Bertha (Putnam) Irish, for so patiently helping with this very difficult task for so many years.

  She and I spent more than 25 years in securing the details of the IRISH family and compiling these records in this book. For her perseverance and painstaking help, I give her credit for this desired accomplishment. She willingly went with me in our car on all of our research trips, covering more than 50,000 miles. After returning home each time, she did all that she could to help arrange and compile this data for our book on the Descendants of JOHN IRISH, the Immigrant.

As the older members of our IRISH families are gradually passing away, a large part of their records and knowledge of the families will disappear and be lost to posterity; so it was our earnest desire to collect and save as much of this information as we could while it is still available, for the benefit of those now living and for future generations. Since a book on the descendants of the immigrant, JOHN IRISH, has never been published, we assumed this task for the benefit of the many members of the IRISH family and for others to whom it may be of interest.

We have earnestly tried to make these records as correct as possible. Even so, I realize that there will inevitably be some errors. But to those who find them, these errors may be of some value, for they may stimulate interest for further research.
